Per the request of friends who read the Long Beach Recap pre-edit, I’m posting one original paragraph here that didn’t quite make the cut. Why it got hacked, I have no idea?
“Case in point: Sunday afternoon in Long Beach. Hyden and Scott start off serving Todd short and outside his body to take away his approach. Rogers seems noticeably bothered by their strategy and makes five uncharacteristic hitting errors in the first 15 points. Down by four, Rogers puts Dalhausser up on two for the ultimate delivery to Spiketown, and although they weren’t successful in stopping it, Hyden and Scott accounted for this tactical maneuver by deciding pre-match to split blocking duties in a preemptive counterattack. Normally Scott, the best technical blocker on tour, would go up to the net full-time, while Hyden, reigning defensive player of the year, would scurry around behind him, reading the play to perfection, touching more balls than Elton John. But in order to implement their “serve short, eliminate approach” master plan, Hyden and Scott had to be willing to abandon their conventional roles on court. And that adaptation to the situation accomplished what they had only been able to pull off one other time this year, the winning of a single set. Final score: 21-17, Hyden and Scott.”

Great! =)
“touching more balls than Elton John” = baby out with the bathwater
Pure genious with the keyboard I say!
I did a little research on Todd/Phil’s 2010 AVP season to date. In the 6 tournaments only 3 teams have taken them to 3 games. Each time they lost the first game, and then won the next 2. So in 29 of the 34 matches they have played, they won in 2 games. Awesome feat!
Huntington Beach: Casey P. & Kevin W.in winners 3rd round. John H.& Sean S. in the finals.
Belmar: Casey P. & Kevin W.in the semi’s.
Hermosa: Casey J. & Brad K. in winners 3rd round.
